The reduced size of the connector (saving up to 20% PCB space) and increased current capacity (up to 3X) allows for greater flexibility in design. The external locking feature ensures secure mating retention and helps to improve the reliability of the interconnect system by helping to prevent accidental unmating. These connectors address the needs of low-profile applications that require a reliable, secure wire-to-board signal or low-power connection.
