Siemens 5SY4 Series Miniature Circuit Breaker, 16A Current, 230V ac Rated Voltage - 5SY4516-7

This miniature circuit-breaker provides overcurrent protection for AC and DC installations and is designed for DIN-rail mounting in infrastructure and industrial environments. It operates on 230V AC supplies with an alternate DC rating and offers thermal-magnetic tripping to protect single-phase circuits including a switched neutral. The device is Compact and intended for use where touch protection and combined top-and-bottom terminals are required.

Features and Benefits:

• 16A current rating limits overloads while maintaining circuit continuity
• Type C tripping handles moderate inrush currents without nuisance trips
• 10kA breaking capacity reduces fault duration on AC networks
• 60V DC rated operation extends protection to low-voltage DC systems
• Combined terminals enable flexible conductor connection options

Applications

• Suitable for protection of single-phase distribution circuits
• Ideal for use in small industrial control panels
• Used for safeguarding infrastructure branch circuits
• Can be used with supplementary modules for expanded functionality

What pole configuration does it provide?

It features a 1P+N design allowing simultaneous phase and NEUTRAL switching.

What are the environmental operating limits?

It operates between -40°C and 70°C ambient temperature with varying humidity tolerance up to 95% RH at lower temperatures.

Which Terminal and conductor sizes can be connected?

Combined screw terminals accept solid and stranded conductors from 0.75 mm² up to 35 mm² and finely stranded up to 25 mm² with recommended torque 2.5 to 3.5 N·m.

How does the device perform in short-circuit conditions?

It meets EN 60898 breaking capacity of 10 kA for AC and offers higher switching limits per IEC 60947-2 for specific test conditions.
