Siemens 5SY4 Series Miniature Circuit Breaker, 50A Current, 400V ac Rated Voltage - 5SY4350-7

This miniature circuit breaker provides overcurrent protection for industrial and infrastructure installations. Designed for three-pole switching with a Type C tripping characteristic, it operates on AC systems up to 400V and on DC supplies up to 60V. The device is suitable for DIN-rail mounting and includes a toggle reset actuator to permit manual reclosure after a trip.

Features and Benefits:

• 50A rated current ensures sustained operational load handling
• 10kA breaking capacity limits fault energy in AC systems
• Type C tripping characteristic protects against moderate inrush currents
• Combined terminals enable flexible conductor connection options
• IP20 protection offers touch-safe operation in enclosed panels

Applications

• Suitable for industrial switchboards requiring three-pole protection
• Ideal for infrastructure distribution circuits with moderate fault levels
• Used with AC supplies at 50/60Hz for general motor protection
• Can be used in DC up to 60V for control circuits
• Suitable for DIN-rail panel assemblies in confined enclosures

What conductor sizes can be connected to the terminals?

Solid, stranded and finely stranded conductors from 0.75mm² up to 35mm² can be used, with finely stranded up to 25mm² when using end ferrules.

How does temperature affect continuous current capability?

The operational current decreases with ambient temperature

examples include 48A at 40°C and 43.8A at 60°C for AC operation.

What mechanical endurance can be expected from the device?

The breaker is specified for a typical mechanical service life of 10,000 operating cycles.

Which standards govern its design and testing?

It conforms to IEC/EN 60947-2 and IEC/EN 60898-1 and carries UL1077 recognition for applicable tests.
