It's also an excellent electrical insulator, keeping you safe while the IDC is in use. The unit includes phosphor bronze contacts and terminations for a strong and reliable connection.
For ease of use, the connector socket is supplied part-assembled. The 2.54 mm universal ribbon cable sockets have an open design making them suitable for daisy-chaining, so you can add additional appliances to the circuit safely.
