How do contactors work?
Contactors are electromagnetic devices which can switch high amounts of electrical current and work with the use of an internal coil or electromagnet, which opens or closes the contacts when electrical current passes through it. They are similar to relays, however they can handle larger loads and are able to switch more than 15 amperes. This makes them ideal for heavy-duty, larger scale applications, such as switching several different circuits simultaneously. These devices can be remotely controlled and so can be used for logic controlling, such as turning different things on and off together. Contactors feature high coil voltages and they also have more input and output options than relays. They are often used to control electric motors and lighting systems.
Allen Bradley Contactors are expertly designed to consistently deliver excellent performance and meet your unique requirements. They have a range of motor control products, including IEC and NEMA contactors that can be combined with compatible accessories, to help you find your ideal solution.
Allen Bradley MCS (Modular Control System) Contactors
A modular motor control system allowing users flexibility to design and construct an adaptable system. It has been designed to take in to account the demands and requirements of modern motors and their users; satisfying requirements up to 85AC3. A wide range of accessories are also available to cater for many diverse needs. The ease of assembly, installation and modification can bring many benefits not only those related to cost, but can reduce the number of parts which need to be held. The compact size of the component parts, bring other benefits including reduction in enclosure volume required, modern design and weight savings are also gained. By applying a modular design concept and an easy to fit 'clip-in' method, all add to the class leading features and benefits of the MCS system.
