Which sanding grit should I use?


Your choice of sanding grit size depends on the work surface you're tackling. Coarse sandpaper with a grit size of 40 to 60 is suitable for heavy stripping and sanding. Use sandpaper from sizes 80 to 120 for fixing minor defects or smoothing surfaces. Sizes 360 to 460 work best for finishing a surface smoothly.
