RS PRO Polypropylene Film Capacitor, 440V ac, ±10%, 6μF, Screw Mount

Use this RS PRO polypropylene film capacitator with single-phase induction motors in AC voltage. Capacitators such as these help spin electrical motors by providing a jolt of stored energy to the motor once it has started.

This polypropylene capacitator (PP) contains two very thin layers of aluminium film, which are covered in a polyurethane flame-retardant resin. This film allows it to be self-healing through weak spots, which absorb currents if a surge occurs. That makes the metallised surface melt and create a vapour which insulates the weak point and lets the capacitator continue working as usual. It's designed for screw-mounting and has a capacitance of 6 μF.
