• If using a drill, attach the free end of the extractor to the drill, set to rotate in reverse and turn it on to turn the screw anti clockwise
• Remove the screw using pliers

How to use a screw extractor?

Firmly fasten the extractor bit to a T-handle or hold it in your hands using locking pliers. Insert the extractor piece into damaged screw's pilot hole. Push the extractor solidly into pilot hole with a hammer. To remove the broken screw, spin the extractor counterclockwise while applying downward pressure.

Try pressing the extractor once more to obtain a better seat inside the pilot hole if it slides and loses the bite on the screw. As you rotate the extractor counterclockwise, press down harder. If it doesn't work, try again after slightly expanding the pilot hole.

You may still remove the screw without an extractor if one doesn't work. Before doing anything else, attempt to remove the screw by twisting it with pliers. If it doesn't work, carefully screw a smaller bit into old screw to entirely remove it. Remove the old metal fragments by drilling or slowly reversing the direction of the hole. Use a bigger screw and rethread the hole.
