Rivets

Rivets are mechanical fasteners that consist of a smooth cylindrical shaft with a factory-formed head on one end and a tail at the opposite end. During installation, the rivet is inserted into a pre-drilled hole and the tail is plastically deformed (set or “bucked”) using a rivet gun, rivet tool, or pneumatic hammer so that it expands and forms a second head, permanently securing the joint.

The deformed tail typically expands beyond the original shaft diameter to clamp the joined materials together, creating a strong, vibration-resistant mechanical joint.
