The Nickel Cadmium (also known as NiCd or NiCd) battery from Panasonic are reliable and safe batteries. NiCd batteries tend to operate in more varied temperatures performing in colder and warmer climates. NiCd batteries have a long shelf life, longer than some newer technologies and typically Panasonic (formerly Sanyo) NiCd batteries go for up to 36months.

These batteries are designed with excellent discharge performance and durability. Cadnica batteries are suitable for tough conditions and typically used in power tools and emergency lighting systems. The cell can typically handle 1000 cycles and are one of the most robust chemistry types in the industry.

The Panasonic F734A0556 NiCd battery is a Tagged terminal type and ideal for those consumers who require permanent installation into equipment or assembling into battery packs.

How long do NiCd batteries typically take to charge?
Standard charge for these batteries are 14 – 16 hours and fast charge 1 hour. The battery should be used within a short time after charging as long-term storage may cause loss of capacity by self-discharging.

How to charge NiCd batteries?
It is strongly recommended to use the dedicated charger /system that is designed for NiCd batteries. Most manufacturers do not fully format their batteries before shipping out, so they do not degrade as much in storage. When receiving the batteries, a slow charge before use is advised.

What is the storage recommendations for the NiCd batteries?
It is strongly recommended that the cell is preserved at dry and low-temperature ideally between −20 °C and 45 °C and away from corrosive gas atmosphere. Also, avoid keeping the batteries in drawers with metallic objects like paperclips, coins, other batteries or household items such as steel, wool, aluminium foil and keys. If these touch, this can be a potential fire hazard. Keep the batteries in their original packaging until ready to use.
