STMicroelectronics Sensor & Transducer Development Kit STEVAL-IFS007V1

This board demonstrates the TDA0161 device which features metallic body detection by sensing variations in high frequency Eddy current losses. Using an externally-tuned circuit, they act as oscillators. The output signal level is altered by an approaching metallic object. The output signal is determined by supply current changes. Independent of supply voltage, this current is high or low, according to the presence or absence of a closely located metallic object. The demonstration board is designed for easy connection to +24V systems, as it is intended for use in factory automation environments. Optionally, the board can be connected to the STEVAL-IFP008V1 board, which hosts a current limited over-voltage protected quad digital termination.

4xTDA0161 proximity detectors capable of detecting the current losses in passive coils connected to the board
Each sensor supplied via a +24V industrial type connector
Output voltage variation: +8.5 to +11.5V in a +24V system
LEDs on the board provide local alerts when an object is close to one coil
The circuit is tuned to detect metallic objects at a distance of up to 4mm
