RS PRO 3 Phase Squirrel Cage Induction AC Motor

Introducing 3 phase squirrel cage motors from RS PRO, a range of robust and efficient induction motors ideal for a wide range of industrial applications. The motors are manufactured with an aluminium design ensuring a lightweight yet highly durable motor with excellent corrosion resistance. These squirrel cage motors are available with various numbers of poles and are produced in accordance with IEC 60034 standards, ensuring a high quality motor to suit your needs. In addition, these robust squirrel cage induction motors feature two earthing terminals, oil seal fitted ends, bearing C3 shielding and are NDE shaft drilled and tapped for easy mounting of accessories. How is the speed determined?

3 phase induction motors feature two main components that can influence the speed of the motor, these include a rotor and a stator. Once a current is applied across the stator, a rotating magnetic field is created inducing a current in the rotor. As a result, the rotor also creates a magnetic field and begins to follow the stator. In addition, the number of poles in the windings of a motor can greatly determine the motors speed. If a motor has a higher number of poles it will tend to have a slower rated speed but a higher rated torque.
