New starter kit for faster Bluetooth® development with PIC32 microcontrollers, now in stock at RS Components

Feature-rich USB-enabled board with free software makes PIC32 an even stronger choice for wireless-application developers

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 26 March 2015:

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, has announced stock of the new Microchip PIC32 Bluetooth® Starter Kit, helping accelerate development of applications ranging from simple wire replacement to high-performance audio.

The board integrates a Bluetooth radio with a combined 3D accelerometer and temperature sensor, high-output multi-colour LED, three single-colour LEDs, and five pushbuttons for user-defined inputs. In addition to USB Device and Host interfaces, there is also a 16MB SPI Flash, I2S, I2C and UART interfaces, and a PICkit™ On-Board programmer. The board has a 20-pin header for future functional expansion.

The 44-pin 50MHz PIC32MX270 microcontroller powering the evaluation board has 256KB of on-chip program Flash, and provides a low-cost entry point to the Microchip PIC32 family with its high-performance, scalable architecture and best-in-class peripherals.

The kit comes complete with a free Android app, demonstration code samples, and Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP) stack to help developers familiarise quickly and begin building applications. The code samples include a temperature display and a demonstration of colour mixing using the multi-colour LED.

The New PIC32 Bluetooth Starter Kit is in stock now at RS.
